Panorama Tours invites you to enjoy a wonderful weekend in London with the
flexibility to do what you want, when you want and how you want.
London - as a tourist destination needs no introduction. Built on the River Thames and with
a population of 7 million, it's a city steeped in history - Roman, Medieval, Elizabethan,
Restoration, Georgian and Victorian eras - all with so many stories to tell!
There is so much to see and do… and what better way to start off than with a 'birds eye view'
of the city from the London Eye! It's an observation wheel 135 meters high with 32 glass capsules
mounted on the outside granting 360 degree views. The trip lasts 30 minutes and on a clear
day you can have a 40 km view over the city and countryside beyond.
The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace with its military band and colourful uniforms
takes place at 11.30am, thereafter it's just a short stroll down Birdcage Walk to Parliament
Square - home to Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
A visit to the waxworks museum of Madame Tussauds or to London Zoo in Regent's Park is just perfect for the children.
Jump a cruise boat down the River Thames to Greenwich (home to the Royal Observatory and the meridian
that divides the Earth's eastern & western hemispheres), and as the city glides by, listen to the
skipper's commentary of some of the many secrets that the river hides. On the return, call in at
the Tower of London and check out the magnificent Crown Jewels - you will not be disappointed!
How about a visit to the markets in Portobello Road or Camden Lock. And if its 'retail therapy'
you seek, then you will be in your element with Oxford Street, Regent Street, Knightsbridge
and Kensington High Street - all beckoning you with their 'Sales' to 'spend…spend…spend!'
Whilst in London, you will be staying at the 4* St Georges Hotel, which is centrally located just 2 minutes walk
from Oxford Circus, with London’s famous shopping district, West End and Soho on your doorstep.
Access to the London Underground (Victoria and Central Line) is also close by.
As the sun sets, its time to hit London's West End and maybe take in one the fabulous shows in
'Theatreland', or catch a movie premier in Leicester Square. Covent Garden with its cobbled streets,
sprawling pavement cafes, bars and restaurants and non stop street performers is open until the
early hours. If its Opera or Ballet that you seek, then the Royal Opera House and English
National Opera offer performances most days of the week. The Royal Albert Hall, Barbican
and Royal Festival Hall offer classical music and if its Jazz that you like, then Ronnie
Scott's in Frith Street is the place for you.
And if you still have time…
Visit Windsor Castle, Hampton Court or Kew Gardens and if the children are with you…check out Legoland!
